Developing and strengthening the relationship between mayors and the local authority

Following the request of the National University of Tunisian Communes, the governor of Monastir, Mr. Akram Al-Sebri met this Thursday afternoon June 24, 2021 at the seat of the State in the presence of the Secretary General of the State , Mr. Bashir Attia, and the President of the National University of Tunisian Municipalities,
Mr. Adnan Bouassida, with a number of mayors of Monastir to develop and strengthen the relationship between the mayors and the regional authority and seek a more participatory and cooperative formula between the central and regional authorities and their relations with the local authority represented in the municipalities as a local public grouping and this within the framework of the local authority, which is determined by local authority law.
The Governor of Monastir made it clear that the regional authority of the State of Monastir generally works in harmony and in continuous cooperation with the municipal councils of the region, as well as the financial and moral support of the interests and structures of the State at the central and regional level for the success of the path of local governance and decentralization of decision-making.
The governor of the region confirmed that the regional authority supervised 22 excellent municipal councils of communes which were organized at the seat of the state. The municipalities, in particular those with weak budgets, have been supported by the budgets of the Regional Development Council in order to help them implement certain projects and pay their debts, in order to ensure local development and a minimum level of minimum provided to the citizen.
The governor of Monastir appreciated the events of the regional office of the National University of Tunisian Municipalities and considered the university as a strong proposal to revise certain legal chapters of the Code of local authorities.
The president of the National University of Tunisian Municipalities and the mayors of the state of Monastir called for the need to further strengthen relations between the regional and local authority in order to resolve certain administrative problems, in particular coordination with representatives of regional administrations to advance the implementation of certain development projects that would improve the quality of services provided to citizens.
